Tridge summary

Huelva shows a total cultivated area in the province of 11,802 hectares for the 2022/2023 campaign, a figure very similar to the 11,740 hectares of soft fruit planted last year, with a small increase of 0.53%. The Association of Producers and Exporters of Strawberries and Soft Fruits of Huelva, Freshuelva, has informed that, according to data provided by member companies, the area planted with strawberries amounts to 6,295 hectares, which represents an increase of 2% compared to the 6,167 hectares planted with strawberries last season. The high temperatures and the scarcity of rains in October led to the completion of the replanting almost at the end of November, in some cases also recording the need to replant almost 20% of the crop. This will, in turn, lead to a delay in harvesting the November plants compared to the first plants planted in October, as well as a significant increase in planting costs. The same 2% growth for blueberries, from 3,532 hectares planted last season to 3,602 this year.
