In addition to the high average productivity of roots – more than 50 t/ha in tests in the region, 42% higher than the most used commercial variety – the new cultivar has pulp roots with an intense yellow color, which indicates a high content of beta-carotene, precursor of vitamin A; precocity (harvest from eight to nine months after planting); and moderate resistance to bacteriosis and overstretching, two of the main diseases that affect the culture in Central Brazil. The height of the plant (less than 3 meters) allows the use of the aerial part in animal feed and reduces lodging, and the high height of the first branch of the BRS 429 favors cultural treatments and mechanized planting. The cultivar can be used in a conventional or organic system, with a positive response to irrigation.
