Restrictions on the export of sunflower from Kazakhstan may lead to an increase in the price of sunflower oil

Agricultural producers of the West Kazakhstan region ask to cancel the export duty on the export of sunflower seeds from the country. In their opinion, this restriction will lead to the disruption of spring field work, which, in turn, will lead to a decrease in yield, and as a result, an increase in the price of sunflower oil. This was reported by the press service of NCE "Atameken". The adverse consequences of the introduction of an export duty on sunflower exports were discussed at a meeting of the Committee on Agro-Industrial Complex and Food Industry, functioning under the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the WKO. Recall that since February of this year, a duty of 20% (or 100 euros per ton) has been levied on sunflower exports, and as a result, it has become simply unprofitable for traders to purchase it from Kazakhstani agricultural producers.
Thus, the conditions for the sale of this type of oilseeds on the international market have deteriorated, and the storage facilities of WKO plant growers are oversaturated with sunflower: over 15,000 tons turned out to be useless, since domestic oil plants are loaded with raw materials, and their stocks will last until the end of the year. The Ministry of Agriculture explained the establishment of an export duty on sunflower exports by saying that the payment would help curb the export of raw materials from the country and provide domestic processing plants with them.
