Rice areas advance and management continues

The Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar this Thursday (27) pointed to progress in the sowing of rice in Rio Grande do Sul, which reached "approximately 94%." The bulletin highlighted that the operation was favored by a sequence of days with firm weather, a condition that allowed access of machinery to previously waterlogged areas and the resumption of preparation and planting. The crops are in the stages of germination and vegetative development. According to the publication, "the initial establishment of the crops is adequate." The report recorded progress in the irrigation management of systematized areas, nitrogen fertilization, and weed control, with no significant reports of damage from pests and diseases. The continuation of sowing in the remaining areas will depend "on the maintenance of firm weather and the individual economic viability of the producers," since part of the planned areas may be revised due to the cost and price scenario.
