Brazil: Rice production in São Paulo presents a significant drop

Among the crops with the lowest production in the state of São Paulo, the sharpest percentage drop occurred in rice, with a decrease of 17.9% and a forecast volume of 41.8 thousand tons. Irrigated rice, basically centered in the Vale do Paraíba region, is still being planted slowly and was around 40% sown when the survey was carried out by technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab). The rains have been compromising the progress of sowing. This type of rice produced in São Paulo is sold in the region itself. Dry rice is rarely cultivated in the state, and is used almost entirely for local subsistence. Beans For beans, a total production of 180.1 thousand tons is expected, combined with the three harvests, compared to the 182.1 thousand tons produced in the last harvest.
