In 2020, Russia achieved a record in agricultural exports, with a 20% increase from the previous year, exporting 79 million tons and earning 30.7 billion US dollars. This was due in part to a surplus in agricultural trade, with imports amounting to 29.7 billion US dollars. China became the largest buyer of Russian agricultural products, followed by Turkey and the European Union, with a total of 150 countries and regions receiving these exports. Russia's domestic agricultural production also saw growth, with cereal production reaching a record 133 million tons and poultry meat production increasing by 3.2%. However, the Russian government has implemented measures such as export bans and quota systems to balance domestic supply and international demand, which may impact future export levels. Meanwhile, the trade volume between China and Russia reached 107.77 billion US dollars in 2020, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth and making China the largest trading partner of Russia.
