Trout conquers the market According to the Federal Agency for Fishery, salmon production in 2020 increased by 27.5% compared to 2019 and amounted to 116 thousand tons. At the same time, the share of trout and salmon in the overall structure of aquaculture exceeded 30%, although ten years ago it was less than 5%. The geography is as follows. The main volumes of salmon are grown in the Murmansk region: production amounted to 52.3 thousand tons last year, which is 55% more than in 2019. The key region for growing trout is Karelia: 26.4 thousand tons in 2020, an annual growth rate of 18%. The Leningrad Region produced 11.9 thousand tons of salmon (13% higher than in 2019).
