Santa Catarina should have an exceptional 2021/22 first crop of beans. This is what projects the Agricultural Bulletin issued monthly by Epagri/Cepa. The grain should have a 33% increase in production, going from 56.5 thousand tons to 75.2 thousand tons. The good result will be a reflection of the expected increase of 30% in the average productivity of crops, going from the 1,707 kg/ha obtained in the past crop, to the current 2,217 kg/ha. Regarding the planted area, there was a small growth of 2%.

At the beginning of the harvest, the planting of black beans predominates, as the cultivation of carioca beans takes place later, being concentrated in colder regions of the state, such as in highland fields. For crops that are in the field, about 99.7% are in the vegetative development stage and only 0.3% have reached the flowering stage. Crop conditions are classified as: 90% good; 8.5% average and 1.5% bad. The bean market remains stable, with prices expected to remain at current levels during November and December. It is important to highlight that, compared to October 2021, in real values, a 60kg bag of carioca beans is about 21% above those practiced in October 2021. The average price paid to carioca bean producers in Santa Catarina in October dropped by around 1.0% compared to the previous month, closing the monthly average at R$ 235.20/sc 60kg.
