South Korea raises alert for African Swine Fever after new outbreak

South Korean veterinary authorities confirmed an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) on November 25 at a farm in Dangjin-si, Chungcheong South Province. Emergency quarantine measures are being implemented, and 1,423 pigs have been culled. This is the sixth confirmed case in pigs this year and the first in Chungcheong South Province, the country's largest pig-producing region. Inspections are underway at 30 farms within a 10 km quarantine zone around the affected farm and at 106 pig farms with epidemiological links to the affected farm. Clinical trials are also being conducted at 611 farms with epidemiological links to the slaughterhouse.
