Spain: Estimated lemon and grapefruit harvest for the 2023-24 campaign

Updated Sep 21, 2023
The lemon harvest estimate of the Interprofessional Lemon and Grapefruit Association (AILIMPO) for the next 2023/2024 campaign foresees a production in Spain of 1,365,000 tons, a figure similar to that already achieved in the 2020/2021 campaign. which represents a global increase of 34% compared to the 2022/2023 campaign (which had the lowest harvest in the last 10 years).

The last campaign will close with a final production of 1,018,407 tons according to the provisional balance that accounts for the fruit exported, processed, marketed in the domestic market, as well as weight losses.

The 22/23 balance has been practically coincident with that indicated by AILIMPO, which estimated 1,090,000 tons in September, and updated it in January to 1,011,000 tons.

AILIMPO's grapefruit production estimate for the 2023/2024 campaign indicates a harvest forecast in Spain of 90,000 tons, a volume practically identical to that of the previous campaign.
