Spain, the leading importer of Ukrainian cereal in the EU, with a rise of 80 percent

The EU doubled its imports of cereals from Ukraine in 2022 and Spain was the first receiving country, according to customs data released today in a conference in Madrid. Spain increased its imports of cereal from Ukraine by 80% in 2022, up to 4.6 million tons and was the first buyer of the European Union (EU), according to customs data from the European Commission released this Thursday by the Ministry Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The EU increased its imports of cereals (wheat, barley and corn) from Ukraine by 104% in 2022, to 15.59 million tons, with Spain as the first recipient even above Poland (2.4 million), according to the figures released at a conference held this Thursday on the impact of the war.
