Spain will defend at the next European Union (EU) Fisheries Council, on December 11 and 12, the "best fishing possibilities" and alternatives to the Brussels proposals, to increase significant quotas in the Atlantic and stop cuts in the Mediterranean. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, held this Monday, by videoconference, the advisory council with the regional councilors to prepare for this month's meeting of the EU Industry Council, which will have as its central issue the negotiation of fishing quotas and catches by 2023. Planas has announced that it will present alternative measures to avoid a further reduction in fishing days in the Mediterranean and the revision of some of the proposals for the Atlantic, according to a statement.
