Spanish cereal production will fall 6.5% in 2022, according to European traders

All types of grain, except durum wheat, would contribute to this drop in total production. The most significant decrease would be that of common wheat. For the EU-27, traders advance a production of 281.22 million tons, 1.25% lower than that of 2021. The evolution by type of grain would be uneven, since, for example, the production of common wheat would fall and barley, that of durum wheat and rye would increase somewhat and that of corn would remain practically stable. Nor is the trend the same among the main producing Member States. The first of them, France, would get a somewhat shorter harvest, according to this first advance. It would drop to 63.13 million tons, compared to 65.06 million in 2021. A shorter volume is also expected in Romania (21.72 million tons in 2022 versus 25.73 in 2021) and Bulgaria (10.02 million versus 11.4 million this year).
