The Argentine Sea set sail for a joint Argentinian-Uruguayan anchovy assessment campaign

On board the Oceanographic Fisheries Research Vessel (BIPO) Mar Argentino, the National Institute of Fisheries Research and Development (INIDEP) launched this Tuesday the joint Argentine-Uruguayan anchovy evaluation campaign. Lic. Esp. Claudio Buratti is the scientific head of the campaign that will have as objectives: to evaluate, by hydroacoustic methods, the biomass of the anchovy population fraction that is distributed between 35° and 38°S during the fall; estimate abundance and composition, by length class, age class, and sex ratio; study the growth of anchovy postlarvae and juveniles, among others. The study area is between 35º South and 38º South and at depths in the range of 15 to 50 meters, in the sector where the highest concentrations of anchovy have been recorded in the autumn months.
