The application of an appropriate irrigation regime will be a priority measure for the second crops and for the later hybrids of corn, in which the formation and pouring of the grain will take place, announced Dukena Zholeva, agrometeorologist at the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. Probability of more substantial rainfall and improvement of conditions for development of late agricultural crops is predicted in the western regions of the country. Rainfall at the end of the past period in part of Western and Central Bulgaria, after the deepening drought, moistened the upper soil layers. In the 50 cm soil layer, the content of productive moisture is scarce, and in a large part of the eastern and southern regions – exhausted. At the beginning of August, mid-early corn hybrids will go through a milky maturity phase, and early ones will go through a transition from milky to waxy maturity.
