This is according to the latest data updated by the Department of Customs and Special Taxes, collected by Fepex, which indicates that the importation of vegetables from January to October 2021 rose to 1.2 million tons, 2% more than in the same months of 2020 for a value of 694 million euros. In vegetables, the highest volume corresponds to potatoes with 660,223 tons, followed by tomatoes with 148,009 tons, green beans with 96,260 tons and onion with 91,407 tons. Regarding fruits, their importation in the first ten months of 2021 amounted to 1.7 million tons (10%) for a value of 1.98 billion euros (4%). The most imported fruits registered strong growth with the exception of orange. Banana is the most purchased fruit with 304,738 tons and 18% more than in the same months of 2020, followed by avocado with 194,537 tons that also registered strong growth, of 26%.
