In the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche in Huelva, chestnut producers sounded the alarm a couple of weeks ago due to the appearance of this pest that can cause serious damage to this crop. The organism Torymus sinensis is the best agent to control it as it is its specific parasitoid in its habitat of origin and there is synchrony between its reproductive cycle and that of the chestnut wasp. This organism is not found naturally in the environment and therefore it is necessary to release it as a means of biological control, as indicated by the Extremaduran Executive in a statement.
