The International Grains Council forecasts a 1% increase in the global wheat harvest for 2024/2025, reaching 801 million tons. The IGC also expects the use of wheat to be 802 million tons, with 269 million tons expected to be stored at the end of the season. Southern and southeastern European member states have concluded their wheat harvest, with good results reported, except in Northwestern Europe due to a poor barley harvest. The EU has revised its expected wheat harvest upwards to 122.3 million tons, largely due to positive harvests in Bulgaria and Spain. However, France is projected to see a 16% decrease in wheat harvest from the previous year, while Spain's harvest is anticipated to more than double. In Hungary, the average yield of edible wheat is 5.8 tons/hectare, and the producer price for edible wheat is HUF 73.9 thousand per ton without VAT and transport costs.
