France has banned the entry of cherries from third countries where phosmet is allowed for a year. The Union of Unions asks Planas to prohibit the entry into the Spanish market, for one year, of fruit and vegetables treated with Chlorpyrifos and Methyl chlorpyrifos, which are prohibited substances in the EU. In 2022, 193 cases of fruit and vegetable imports with the presence of these prohibited active ingredients were detected in the EU. The detection occurred mainly in citrus fruits but also in apples, bananas, beans, peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, gherkins, peaches or pistachios.
