[Korean Farmers' Newspaper, Reporter Lee Jang-hee] This year, the first shipment of pears from Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, has embarked on its journey to Canada. On November 25, the Icheon-Eastern Gyeonggi Horticultural Farmers' Association (Chairman Yoo Jae-woong) held a "Icheon Pears Canada Export Departure Ceremony" at the Hatsare Agricultural Product Distribution Center (APC) in Janghowon-eup, Icheon City, and shipped 8 tons of registered pears to Canada. This marks the expansion of export routes to North America, following the existing Taiwan market. The departure ceremony was attended by around 50 people, including Icheon Mayor Kim Kyung-hee, Association Chairman Yoo Jae-woong, Baegongseon-hoe Chairman Lee Hyun-young, and member farmers. Attendees inspected the selection and storage processes and observed the strict quality control system through advanced processing facilities.
