Ukraine has called on the PACE to strengthen international mechanisms for food security protection.

Ensuring sustainable food security in times of crisis and the impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine on global food security were the main issues discussed at a meeting of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The meeting, which took place in Paris on December 4, 2025, was attended by Taras Vysotskyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine. During the panel discussion, the Deputy Minister emphasized that before the full-scale war, Ukraine provided food for up to 400 million people worldwide. Now, despite the enemy's attacks, the country remains a critical participant in the global food market. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, about 250 million tons of food have been exported, of which more than 165 million tons are grain crops.
