UN Food Program pushes for extension of grain initiative in Ukraine

The UN World Food Program (WFP) considers it "vital" to extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative to combat the food crisis. "WFP delivered about 600,000 tons of Ukrainian grain to families in need around the world. Global prices are still at the highest level in the last 10 years. The Black Sea Grain Initiative is vital to supply the areas most affected by the food crisis," says in a statement released on Monday. According to the latest WFP report, 20 ships chartered by the organization transported 595 thousand tons of grain as part of the grain initiative, of which 42% went to Ethiopia, 24% to Yemen, 21% to Afghanistan, 9% to Somalia and 4% to to Kenya.
