Grains and soybeans were lower in overnight trading as planting nears completion in some states and wheat conditions improve. About 92% of the US corn crop was planted at the beginning of the week, the Department of Agriculture said in a report postponed due to Memorial Day. That represents an 81% increase from the previous week and above the previous five-year average of 84%, the USDA said. Seventy-two percent of the crop was up on Sunday, up from 52% last week and an average of 63% for this time of year. About 83% of soybeans were planted on Sunday, up from 66% the previous week and the usual 65%, the government said.
