Data from the Japanese Customs agency shows that in the 10 months of 2021, Vietnam is the 5th largest seafood supplier to Japan, reaching more than 111,000 tons with a value of 94.94 billion JPY, equivalent to 840 million USD; up 1.1% in volume but down 2% in value over the same period last year. Notably, Japan's seafood imports in October 2021 reached more than 150,000 tons, worth 134.5 billion JPY, equivalent to 1.19 billion USD, down 8.2% in volume, but up 9.9% in value over the same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2021, Japan's seafood imports reached 1.53 million tons, worth 1.170 billion JPY, equivalent to 10.357 billion USD, down 0.2% in volume, but up 3.9% in value.
