We start by presenting the perspectives for the grain market in 2023, which were developed by the Economic Analysis Department of PKO BP in the latest issue of Agro Nawigator 4/2022. Taking into account the supply and demand conditions on the grain market, we estimate that further price decreases are a more likely scenario than price increases. The average purchase price of wheat in 2023 may change in the range from -15% y/y to +1% y/y. The market will continue to adapt to the wartime conditions and the weakening demand related to the economic slowdown will be a factor influencing price drops. However, supply constraints will keep prices at an elevated level. Geopolitical conditions remain a significant risk for the grain market, while price dynamics will be largely determined by changes in forecasts and estimates of world grain production in 2023, PKO BP analysts assess.
