According to a report from the Bahía Blanca Grain and Products Exchange, the 2022/23 barley campaign would result in a higher global production than the previous cycle. Countries like Russia, Canada and Turkey registered significant growth, while Ukraine showed a drop compared to the previous cycle. On the other hand, global stocks, although still below the average of recent cycles, would show a recovery compared to the previous campaign (CIG). Analyzing the main players in the market, according to CIG estimates, regarding production, the increases for Russia, Canada and Turkey were 26; 44 and 48% i.a., respectively. This was in contrast to declines in Ukraine (-34% yoy) and the southern hemispheres (Australia: -3.6% yoy and Argentina: -19% yoy). The rise in global production (+6.6 M Tn) was more pronounced than that of consumption (+4.4 M Tn i.a), thus, the final stocks showed a slight recovery compared to the previous cycle – although it remains below from previous campaigns – . ...
