Or, at worst, keep the same numbers as last year. In the assessment of the Department of Rural Economy of the Department of Agriculture and Supply (Deral/Seab), the area planted with cassava in the state should fall by around 2.5%, from 133 thousand hectares to 129.7 thousand. The Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), linked to the University of São Paulo (USP) also predicted at the end of last year and the beginning of this year the possibility and reduction of the planted area of the root. However, in May Cepea began a survey with producers to identify the intention to plant cassava this year, as well as some production cost indicators for the period.
