Year of contrasts: 650 kg/ha of wheat against the disastrous 300 kg/ha of corn

Sowing of wheat and barley is in very good condition, reported Agri.bg Kosta Kostov, executive director of the Association of Bulgarian Grain Producers – 2006 in General Toshevo. All agronomic deadlines for the sowing campaign have been met, the conditions have been favorable for field preparation and sowing. "Unlike past years, we had sufficient moisture and suitable temperatures. At the moment, it is warmer than usual for the season, and with the presence of rain and warmth, the wheat and barley will enter the jointing phase," noted the farmer. The main concern of the farmers from the Association at the moment is related to one enemy. "Field voles have been observed even during the first tillage before sowing, and their density will determine the scale of the problem. We are waiting for it to dry out so we can conduct surveys and determine the extent of the infestation.
