Republika.co.id, Jakarta -- Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) stated that the government will no longer impose limits on live cattle import quotas. This is being done to ensure the availability of meat and milk supplies and to strengthen national food security.
Zulhas said that importers can import live cattle without restrictions for various purposes, ranging from fattening, slaughter, to milk production to support the livestock industry and community consumption needs.
"Now we are opening it wide. Importing live cattle, importing live cattle for slaughter, fattening, or for milk. Now it's free, we are liberalizing it," Zulhas said when met during the commemoration of Nusantara Milk Day 2025 in Jakarta, Sunday (15/6/2025).
This quota-free policy also provides opportunities for the national milk processing industry to increase production volume and supply quality, while strengthening the supply chain from upstream to downstream.
