Description
The cultivation area for white pea beans is located in Ethiopia. Effta Foods Import Export currently sources White Pea Beans from the Ethiopian commodities exchange ECX. This is a government-regulated body which itself sources the product from farmer unions and urban suppliers. It is one of the most important grain legumes grown in the low lands of Ethiopia, particularly in the Rift Valley. In these areas, white pea beans are grown for export purposes as well as for domestic consumption. Navy Bean is also a principal food crop particularly in the southern and eastern parts of Ethiopia.
Pea beans are grown between an altitude 600m and 2,200m. The duration from planting to harvesting, for areas with an altitude of 1,000-1,700m, is 85-95 days, while for areas with altitudes of 1,500-2,200m the duration becomes 110 days. The white pea bean is sown from the end of June to mid-July, usually not intercropped, and harvested after three months in October. Manual harvesting techniques including handpicking are used during yielding.

The navy bean also called the white pea bean is a variety of the common bean. They are small, oval-shaped and can be cooked quickly. They have a creamy texture when cooked and are mashing against the side of the pot. Effta Foods Import Export/ Abiot Chernet Import and Export offers Round White Pea Beans of Ethiopian origin.
