APLV is a family operated business with the mission to improve the work standards in the spice industry in Madagascar. It was established in 2017 and the specialises in the collection, curing and exportation of Vanilla Bourbon Beans, Powder and Cocoa beans and Chili Pepper. They are dead by a team of 2 leaders engaging more than 50 people in 5 regions working with more than 4,000 farmers across the country. The company now deals with a wide range of products including Mace, Nutmeg, Clove, Turmeric, Black and Pink Peppercorn and Cinnamon. The company has been exporting cinnamon to the UK and Europe at the moment. It is interested in exporting to the USA and Asia, and other emerging markets such as Japan.

APLV ensures that the cloves are stored in a dry and clean storage area with controlled humidity levels. All steps are taken to ensure that the cloves remain of high quality and do not get spoiled. The cloves are manually packed by hand into jute pr PP bags. It takes approximately 2 weeks for the order to be ready for shipment once confirmed. The company prefers delivery through Toamasina Port.

APLV pays high attention to products' cleanliness and conducts a regular test to make sure that the product is free from bacterias (Salmonella, E.Coli, etc) and fungus (Bacillus Cereus, Clostridium perfingens, etc). They maintain a close connection with farmers to ensure pesticide control from the start. They conduct frequent lab tests, regular farm tests and checks to ensure the premium quality of the product. They source the cloves only from a few selected farmers so that they can guarantee complete quality control. The company pays key attention to quality parameters like product size, colour, aroma and type.

Description
The average production yield of cloves is about 100 metric tons. Production of cloves is spread across over 80,000 Ha in the North East, north of Toamasina region and the second is in the South East of the Island. The main harvest seasons between the months of November and January. Madagascar is one of the main supplier of cloves in the international market. The flower of cloves bloom during all months and are usually hand-picked by the farmers and cultivators. A humid tropical climate with an annual rainfall of 150 - 250 cm and a mean temperature range of 20°C to 30°C and elevation up to 1000 m are most suitable. Deep rich loams with high humus content and laterite soils are the best suited for the cultivation process. The cultivation methods are natural with no use of pesticides or harmful chemicals.

Description
Cloves are the flower buds of the clove tree, an evergreen also known as Syzygium aromaticum. Found in both whole and ground forms, this versatile spice can be used to season pot roasts, add flavour to hot beverages, and bring spicy warmth to cookies and cake. Cloves are best known as a sweet and aromatic spice, but they have also been used in traditional medicine.

APLV offers whole and grade CG3 reddish-brown cloves. The conventionally produced cloves are of Madagascar variety and medium in size. The product has a strong flavour and aroma of cloves and high content of eugenol. Cloves contain fibre, vitamins, and minerals, so using whole or ground cloves to add flavour to your food can provide some important nutrients. The whole spice can be stored in a cool and dry place for up to 24 months.
