The company uses an extensive network of storage facilities and refrigerated space to keep the product in good quality. The oranges are cleaned and then packed in 15 kg close carton unless specified otherwise. The process from harvest to shipment takes between 5-10 days depending on the export volume and the specific needs of each country. Cairo Farms' main way of shipment is FOB sea freight and thus is in close proximity to three major harbours: Alexandria Port, Port Said, and Port Sokhna, all of which are within an hour’s drive.

The company takes extra care to ensure all their products meet their strict criteria of having optimal weight and quality. All oranges are handpicked from the trees, machine sorted and then inspected manually. They are packed by special horticulture specialists. They pay special attention to the taste, Brix level and how clean is the fruit. The fruit is machine cleaned and washed. The company has a certificate to export by the Egyptian Government that the product has passed all the strict guidelines for each specific product.

The key harvest season for oranges is from November to March. The plantation is in Egypt. Egypt’s climate and soil are ideal for our citrus trees to bear consistent unblemished fruit. The fruit is harvested manually by handpicking. The company has cutting edge irrigation and pruning techniques that encourage the plant to produce better tasting oranges. The sorting of each product is unique, but effectively using the machine and manual labour allows us to deliver uniform and specific sizes year-round.
