Description
The average production yield of turmeric is 10 to 20 thousand tons per year. The main harvesting season starts from October and goes up to March. The production facility is located in Vietnam where 51-100 employees are engaged in the production process. Turmeric is a tropical plant in the same family as ginger. It has large green leaves and grows 3 or more feet tall. As the plant matures each stem sends up a spike of greenish-white and occasionally pink flowers. The turmeric thrives in warm, humid conditions and well-drained, neutral soil.
Turmeric root is harvested using manual and mechanical methods. During manual harvesting, the land is ploughed and clumps are carefully removed using a spade and turmeric rhizomes are gathered by hand picking. Turmeric root is first dried and then grinded into bright yellow organce turmeric powder.

Turmeric and its most active compound curcumin have many scientifically-proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, Alzheimer's and cancer. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis. Turmeric is also known for its antiseptic and healing properties. It is also used for conditions involving pain and inflammation, such as osteoarthritis. It is also used for hay fever, depression, high cholesterol, a type of liver disease, and itching. It is also commonly used in Asian food as it has a warm, bitter taste and is frequently used to flavour or colour curry powders, mustards, butter, and cheeses. It contains a yellow-coloured chemical called curcumin, which helps in the development of the colour and typical turmeric flavour.
