In the Guangzhou wholesale market, the selling prices of Peruvian mango are quite low on W1. Mangoes have been moved in large quantities from the Shanghai market to Guangzhou, which has caused a surge in wholesale market arrivals. On January 3, 2022, the selling prices of Peruvian mangoes stood at USD 31.95-34.85/4kg carton box (RMB 220-240/4kg carton box), and the sales movement was slow as well.
Thailand
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Raises a Large Plot of Mangoes Quality Output in Thailand (Jan 5)
The Nam Dok Mai mango is considered a champion product that generates income and a reputation for Phitsanulok Province in the domestic and international markets. A total of 563 companies were certified by the GAP standard, covering an area of 1,260 hectares, representing 12% of the total mango plantation area. The GAP certification has resulted in exporting mangoes to foreign markets.
Indonesia
Indonesian Fruit Import Quota Expected to Be Available in February 2023 (Jan 3)
The fruit products imported to the Indonesian market are currently facing a challenge due to the import quota that expired on December 31st, 2022. In the meantime, buyers are only able to import non-quota fruits such as pears, strawberries, blueberries, and dates. They can also place orders for non-perishable products with longer shelf life, such as apples. The product is kept in the original country’s warehouse while waiting for a new quota by the government in February 2023. Importers mentioned that the quota for tropical fruits such as longan and mango is difficult to obtain and usually takes longer to be issued since the government intends to protect domestic products.

The Global Mango Market May Grow 5% Per Year Until 2029 (Jan 6)
World consumption of mangoes has been growing in recent years, reflecting the performance of Brazilian mango exports. According to research, the growth should continue, at least until 2029. The forecast is that the revenue increase will be 5% per year. The expectation is that the Asia-Pacific region will lead the market since that is where the major participants are located.
Peru
The Mango Campaign in Peru Is Did Much Better Than 2022 (Jan 8)
Fresh mango is in the middle of its campaign, which began in October 2022, and exhibits positive results. In W52, mango shipments reached 14,899 tons, which was 54% higher than what was shipped during the same week of 2021. The destinations for the current campaign have been the United States, with 41% participation, and the Netherlands, with 34%. Although they are the usual places, this season stands out because Malaysia and South Africa have joined the list as a result of the sanitary and phytosanitary measures that SENASA has managed to implement in the export processes.

South Korea Increases Purchases of Vietnamese Mangoes (Jan 7)
The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) reported that Vietnam is the third largest supplier of mangoes to Korea in the first 11 months of 2022, reaching 1.7K tons, worth USD 7.4M, up 19.1% in volume and 24.8% in value over the same period in 2021. The average price of imported mangoes from Vietnam reached USD 4,232.3/ton, an increase of 4.7% over the same period in 2021.
