In W10, the Almond Board of California published its report, reflecting a new record in almond exports from the USA. This combined with rumors of problems in the next crop, generated instability and volatility in almond prices. US almond prices have risen by 4% from W9 to W11. As a result, processed almond prices in Spain have also increased, including Slivered almonds, which rose from USD 5.15/kg in W9 to USD 5.35/kg CIF in W11.

Cashew nuts with skin are mainly used for gift giving, so the sales volume is relatively large during holidays. In W11, the supply of cashew nuts is high as there is no Holiday approaching that increases demand.

The primary supplier of cashew nuts in China is Vietnam. Vietnam's new harvest for the 2023 season will arrive in Chinese ports in April. The top three locations are Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Qingdao. The top 2 species by total import quantity in 2022 are WW 320 and WW 240.
Vietnam: Vietnam’s Cashew Nut Imports Skyrocketed, the Unusual Period Recurs (Mar 14)
The General Department of Customs reported that, in the first two months of 2023, Vietnam imported 272K tons of raw cashew nuts, with a value of more than USD 360M, an increase of 78.2% in volume and up 52.2 % in value over the same period in 2022. Vietnam's imports of raw cashews amounted to more than USD 4.1B, while exports only reached about USD 3.6B.

Climate change has caused severe drought in Iran. 85% of the country's territory is considered an arid or semi-arid zone, leading to a drop in pistachio production and exports. According to the ICC (Iranian Chamber of Cooperatives), the country exported just over 46K tons of pistachios in the first ten months (March 21, 2022 - January 20, 2023) of the current Iranian calendar year.
