Egypt

Onion Production in Egypt 60% Lower Than Last Year (Mar 22)

Egyptian exporters reported lower onion production. The season began in mid-February, with a 60% lower production compared to 2022, which was not favorable for onion growers. The sales prices did not cover the cost of production.

Exports of Onions and Garlic Increased by 360% (Mar 23)

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam in 2022, the export of onions, shallots, and garlic reached around USD 31.2M, an increase of nearly 360% compared to 2021. Most of the product was exported to Asian markets, accounting for more than 90%, then America, Europe, and Australia.
