In W15 in the tuna landscape, Germany has become the third-largest tuna import market of Vietnam, with a 47% increase in tuna export turnover in the first two months of 2023. In Vietnam, Binh Dinh province's tuna fishing production is down 8.6%, and the price of ocean tuna is down 50% due to decreased consumption. Vietnam's tuna exports to Spain increased by 58% in February 2023, bringing the total turnover to Spain to USD 2.5M. Vietnam's tuna exports to Peru have grown strongly in the first months of 2023, reaching USD 6.4M in 2022 and USD 2.2M in 2023. La Nina has had a profound effect on the Peruvian tuna industry, causing the country's tuna catch to decrease and costs to increase. Also, Vietnam has surpassed China to become the fourth-largest tuna supplier in the Peruvian market. Vietnam's tuna exports continue to plummet in the first two months of 2023 due to high inflation, consumer habits, and the "IUU Yellow Card". However, exports to the UK, Japan, Germany, and Israel have increased significantly, reaching USD 109M in the first two months of 2022. These countries are in the top 5 of Vietnam's tuna exports. The European Union has proposed a multi-year plan to improve the conservation and management of tuna in the Indian Ocean, which would reduce the level of catches in line with scientific advice. It would be the first time in the CAOI. Further, The 2023's "first tuna of Su'ao" was the heaviest in the past ten years, and will be auctioned off on April 15, 2023. The bluefin tuna season in Yilan County lasts from April to July 2023. The "first tuna of Pingtung" was auctioned off on April 7, 2023 and sold at USD 333.48/kg (TWD 10.2K/kg). In Tennessee, an inspector found half a dozen critical violations at China 1, a low-scoring restaurant in Cocke County. Food temperatures were off, with 56 degrees for tuna and salmon, but 41 and below is the safe cool temperature to slow bacteria growth. A half pound of tuna and salmon were thrown away.
