Turkey: Mersin Was Responsible for 24% Of Turkey’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exports in 2022 (Jan 30)
Mersin retained its title as the city with the highest export value of fresh fruit and vegetables from Turkey, holding an export value of USD 703.857M of the USD 2.951B exported by Turkey in 2022. The Mediterranean city continued its leadership in the export of bananas, lemons, loquats, strawberries, plums, zucchini, carob and almonds.

Tanzania: Tanzania Expected to Miss 2022/23 Raw Cashew Nut Target of 400K MT by 57% (Jan 31)
Tanzania auctioned off 172,524MT of raw cashew nuts during the 2022/23 main season that ended in the second week of January 2023. This volume is 57% below the 2022/23 target of 400K MT and 28% lower than the 2021/22 season which yielded 238,575MT. There is still some supply produced in Tanga and Singida but the yield of which cannot cover the shortage experienced in the main season.
Tanzania: 2022/23 RCN Season in Tanga and Singida to Start in First Week of February 2023 (Jan 31)
The raw cashew nut season in the Tanga and Singida regions of Tanzania will start in the first week of February 2023. The prices are expected to be lower compared to prices fetched in the Southern regions during the main season due to low demand as most companies already attained their buying targets from the Southern regions. Raw cashew nut quality in Tanga and Singida are also expected to be low due to rain, putting further downward pressure on prices.
Tanzania: New Production Facility Revitalizes Cashew Nut Market in the Tanga Region of Tanzania (Jan 31)
The Tanga region in Tanzania is one of the new cashew nut producing areas in the country. However, due to low production levels of approximately 300MT per year, farmers in the region have historically been forced to informally trade their cashews in Kenya due to low prices and the lack of a formal market. However, the 2021/22 cashew season saw a change in the market in the Tanga region, as the opening of a factory with a production capacity of 500MT per year, revitalized the market and provided farmers with a stable market for their produce.
