Nectarine
Nectarines have been shipped to the US and Canada in quantities totaling 22,014MT (2,446,003 boxes) through W10, an increase of 9% from the same time in 2022. Additionally, it also accounts for 27% of world nectarine exports this season. The largest market is China, where 43% of nectarine exports this season have been sent.
Plum
In the Guangzhou market, the selling prices of Chilean sugar plums have increased by USD 1.45/9kg box (RMB 10/9kg box) due to low arrival volume. These are the selling prices for March 20, 2023:
- XL: USD 23.24-24.69/9kg (RMB 160-170/9kg)
- J: USD 26.15-27.60/9kg (RMB 180-190/9kg)
- JJ: USD 29.04-30.49/9kg (RMB 200-210/9kg)
- 3J: USD 31.95-33.40/9kg (RMB 220-230/9kg)
Chile: New Chilean Plum Variety Wins Over US Consumers
University of Chile breeders have created a brand-new late-harvest plum variety. 100% Chilean plums, Sweet Pekeetah, ripen in the second half of February in the southern hemisphere. The new type has extremely sweet flesh that is crisp, juicy, and flavorful. In order to highlight its distinctive sweetness, the fruit is also sold in the market under the name Purple Honey ("Purple Honey"). About 17MT of these plums have been shipped to the US as of W10.
Chile: Plum Shipments to North America Grow by 50% Compared to the Same Period of the Previous Year
17,745MT (1,971,652 boxes) of plums have been sent to the US and Canada as of W10. It represents 30% of all exports this season, up 50% from the same dates last year. Similar to nectarines, 38% of plum exports to date have gone to China, but this is still a 20% decrease from the same time in 2022.
Turkey: Silifke, Mersin, One of Turkey’s Most Important Fruit Production Centres
One of Turkey's most significant fruit-producing hubs, the Silifke district of Mersin, is still harvesting plums undercover. The yield from the plum orchards in a 15 thousand decares-wide area of Silifke is typically between 15,000-20,000MT per year. The first-season plum is collected from the covered gardens in quantities of 250–300MT.

The highest agricultural exports from Uzbekistan were reported in these positions during the first two months of the year: grapes, pomegranates, and prunes. All of these positions show strong growth. 6,200MT of pomegranates for USD 6.1M and 4,400MT of prunes worth USD 6.9M were shipped from January to February 2023.
Cherry
Chile: Expands Cherry Acreage by Nearly 20 Times in Last 20 Years
As export demand has increased over the past 20 years, cherry plantations in Chile have grown significantly, making it the top tree fruit in the country. Cherry tree hectares increased by 25.7% from the previous season in 2022, continuing the trend. cherry tree acreage reached 16.4% of the total area of fruit trees in the country followed by walnut (12.3%) and table grapes (11.5%).
