In W26 in the watermelon landscape, it was reported that the watermelon market has been impacted by various factors including weather conditions and supply dynamics in different regions. In the Netherlands, hailstorms in May caused a significant decrease in the supply of Spanish watermelons. Germany is facing high demand but limited quantities due to failed harvests caused by heat in Italy. Furthermore, Italy has faced planting delays and heavy rain, resulting in limited quantities and higher prices.

In the United States, the watermelon supply on the West Coast is limited for the 4th of July season. Cooler weather during the crop's growth has delayed harvest dates by seven to 10 days compared to 2022. The challenges faced by watermelon growers and shippers this season include unseasonably cool temperatures in Arizona, resulting in irregular sizing and an unpredictable harvest schedule. In W26, watermelons are supplied from Phoenix, Arizona, and Los Banos, California, with Northern California's crop starting in the middle of W27. Demand for watermelons is strong, and the market has been exceptionally active.

Lastly, the heavy rains of the last few weeks in Spain have directly affected watermelon plantations, leading to anticipated shortages and higher prices in the coming weeks until mid-July. The price trend is forecasted to rise during this period due to increased demand.
