Contrary to Expectations, Brazilian Melon Exports Retreat in November (Dec 15)

Brazilian melon exports in November did not exceed those in October. Generally, shipments intensify in the period, due to larger orders for the end of the year. However, this was not the case in 2022. Based on data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), the volume exported was 27K tons in November, a decrease of 23% compared to October and 44% to November 2021.

126 Hectares of Watermelon and Squash Are Enabled to Export to Chile (Dec 16)

SENASA Chile announced that, after complying with the work plan established by SAG Chile, 29 watermelon and squash production sites were set in Ica, to export to the Southern market. Before the authorization, the SAG Chile commission traveled to Ica for the technical supervision of the 126 hectares of watermelon and pumpkin cultivation located in Alto Laran (Chincha), Subtanjalla, Los Molinos (Ica), Rio Grande, Llipata (Palpa). During the audit, it was possible to verify the actions deployed to control fruit flies, complying with sanitary and phytosanitary regulations to guarantee that the product is free of pests.
