India's import dependency of coriander seed for domestic market is strengthened

Italy is the largest exporter of coriander seeds to India and it is the second-largest exporter of the commodity worldwide in 2020. Meanwhile, India holds its position as the biggest exporter of coriander seeds globally indicating that their domestic production is going to abroad while the local consumption is supported by Italy. India has managed to maintain its total production volume which has never been less than 1.4M MT for the last 3 years to be precise around 2017-2019 period. The export value of the commodity to India also gradually improved from 2017 to 2020 to its peak of 11.51M after plummeting from 2015 to 2017.
