Producers Seek Aide as Oversupply Continues to Decline Wholesale Prices of Fresh Cucumber in Bulgaria

The wholesale price of fresh cucumbers in Bulgaria descended by 32.57% YoY to USD 0.74/kg in W1 of May 2022, compared to the same period the year before, where prices were USD 1.09/kg. Upcoming cucumbers cause oversupply from open field production in Bulgaria and the presence of cheap fresh cucumbers from Turkey, Greece, Albania, and Macedonia. Due to an oversupply price fell WoW by 61.45%, from USD 1.92/kg in W4 of April to USD 0.74/kg in W1 of May.
