Thailand's Wholesale Banana Prices Surge by 41.92% YoY in Nov-23 Amid Strong Japanese Demand

Thailand's wholesale price of fresh bananas has risen by 41.92% YoY to USD 0.94/kg in Nov-23, with a 2.17% MoM increase. The highest recorded price in 2023 was USD 1.02/kg in August. The increase is attributed to the Japanese market's demand for 8 thousand tons, providing a new crop for local farmers. Thai farmers are actively harvesting bananas to meet the rising demand.
