China's Import Ban on Thai Longan Weakens Domestic Prices

Published Jan 12, 2022
The price of Edaw longan (medium) decrease by -22.47% YoY and settled at USD0.97 per kg in early January 2022, while the small longan prices also fell -37.68% YoY and sold at USD0.61 per kg. Prices were lower throughout 2021 as China banned Thai longan and caused an oversupply in Thailand's domestic market leading to a significant price drop. However, there is a possibility that prices will improve as domestic demand also tends to increase ahead of the Lunar New Year.
