US Potatoes Price Escalates Due to High Consumer Demand

The wholesale price of the US Russet potato variety increased by +27.42% YoY in 2021. On 22 March 2021 US potato price declined to 0.41 USD per KG compared to 22 March 2020 was 0.77 USD per KG. Nevertheless, the price slowly increased to 0.6 USD per KG on 1st November compared to the same period a year ago was 0.47 USD per KG. The US has become the 4th importer and 6th exporter of potatoes with a 7.22% and 6.92% global share in 2020. Due to the high demand for potatoes, the US had to import more potatoes mainly from Canada, and reducing exports to fulfill its supply certainly affects their prices in the US market.
