The European Union produced around 21.1 billion liters of wine in 2024. This is shown by the latest Eurostat data on the sector. The largest producers remain the traditional leaders – Italy with around 7.1 billion liters, Spain with 5.4 billion liters, and France with 5.3 billion liters, which form the backbone of European wine production. The EU continues to hold over 60% of global production and nearly 48% of global consumption. In 2024, the total export of alcoholic beverages from the EU (including wine) reached 29.8 billion euros — an increase of 10.9% compared to 2019 (before Covid-19).
