Pea production is not so developed in Argentina as other crops may be. Yet, farmers are thinking in growing peas because of its economic and productive benefits. It is an alternative to winter crops (wheat, barley, etc), in order to make a different crop rotation. Also, it is a good crop predecessor to summer crops, such as soybean or corn, leaving behind better soil conditions in both, nutrients and water supply. This crop has a lot of potential. It is used for animal and human consumption because of its high protein levels.
