The provinces affected by the earthquake, including Malatya, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Hatay, are crucial for Turkish fruit cultivation. Malatya is the center of apricot production, Adıyaman is the center of pomegranate production, and Hatay is important for olive and citrus production. The earthquake is expected to result in the elimination of small producers, loss of past-period products, and rising food prices due to supply shortages. In addition, 8,241 large cattle, 64,260 small ruminants, and 42,000 poultry died due to the earthquake. Additionally, 533,000 chicks died in Adiyaman and 168,000 in Malatya. As a result of the animal deaths, it is estimated that the breeders incurred a loss of USD 31.9M.
