Government revives cotton production in Nigeria

256,000 farmers are going into cotton production for the 2020 planting season in Nigeria. The central bank of Nigeria has began the distribution of cotton farm inputs to for the 2020 wet season.
This is part of plans by the government to revive 10 focal commodities such as cotton, textile and garment industry to cut across their value chains create jobs and boost the economy of the country.
Nigeria currently spends about $5 billion annually on the importation of textile.
